Emergency Housing Reconstruction Project

The project provided a housing reconstruction grant with technical assistance to victims of the 2015 Nepal Earthquake.

Challenge

The 2015 Nepal Earthquake destroyed at least 498,852 houses and damaged a further 256,697 houses. The Emergency Housing Reconstruction Project (EHRP) was a JICA ODA loan project of JPY 12 billion to reconstruct the houses in accordance with adequate seismic standards and the Build Back Better (BBB) principle. The Community Mobilization Program (CMP) was the outstanding support activity to accelerate the housing reconstruction.

Oriental Consultants Global provided project management services including housing reconstruction grant management and technical assistance.

 

Results

About 35,000 house owners received the housing reconstruction grant from the JICA ODA loan
About 95,000 house owners received technical assistance from the project.
