JICA Expert Team Receives Special Recognition Award at Philippines Railway Institute 5th Anniversary
Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. has been supporting the establishment and operation of the Philippines Railway Institute (PRI) through a joint venture (JV) with Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. and ALMEC Corporation.
On December 16, 2024, a ceremony commemorating the 5th anniversary of the PRI was held at the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) in Pasay City, Philippines. Representing Japan, the ceremony was attended by the Minister for Economic Affairs, Daisuke Nihei of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, and Deputy Director Keisuke Fukui of the JICA Philippines Office. From the Philippines side, attendees included the Minister of Transportation Jaime Bautista and Vice-Minister Anneli R. Lontoc, who celebrated the 5th anniversary of the institute’s founding.
In addition, various commendations were presented during the ceremony, and the JICA Expert Team (JET), comprising members from the aforementioned JV, received the Special Recognition Award. This honor acknowledges JET’s unwavering and continuous support for the PRI.

Special Recognition Award from the PRI
At the PRI, training programs for operations and maintenance personnel, including those involved in ongoing projects such as the Metro Manila Subway Project and the North-South Commuter Railway Project, are expected to train approximately 15,000 railway professionals in the coming years.
In response to the expansion of railway-related operations in the Philippines, OC Global established the “Project Management Office for Railway Developments in the Philippines” in June 2019. Subsequently, “O&M Office” was set up in April 2020 to enhance consulting services related to the operation and maintenance of urban railways.
