On September 15, 2026, the FIDIC Project Awards 2026 ceremony was held at the FIDIC 2026 Conference in Delhi, India. At the ceremony, the “Dedicated Freight Corridor Project” in India, in which Oriental Consultants Global (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Eiji Yonezawa) was involved, won as the Winner in the Megaproject Category. In addition, the “Nadzab (Lae) Airport Redevelopment Project” in Papua New Guinea won as the Winner in the Medium to Large Project Category, and the “Nacala Port Development Project” in the Republic of Mozambique won the Award of Merit in the Medium to Large Project Category.

The FIDIC Project Awards recognize projects that have contributed to the economic development of countries around the world and the improvement of the quality of life for local communities.

[Dedicated Freight Corridor Project, India]

In India, which continues to achieve remarkable economic growth, the demand for freight transport has been expanding rapidly. Meanwhile, the transport capacity of existing railways was approaching its limit, making the strengthening of logistics infrastructure a critical issue. This project is a large-scale national infrastructure project to construct a dedicated freight railway connecting the capital city of Delhi and the Mumbai region, which boasts one of India’s largest trading ports. For many years, OC Global has participated in consulting services, including construction supervision, and has supported the smooth implementation of the project.With the opening of this freight railway, the logistics network connecting ports and inland areas will be significantly strengthened, and freight transport will become more efficient and faster. It is also expected to contribute to the development of industrial and logistics hubs in the areas along the railway, and further to the sustainable economic growth of India as a whole.

[Nadzab (Lae) Airport Redevelopment Project, Papua New Guinea]

Because the country’s mainland is a steep mountainous region, there is no land route to the capital, making safe and rapid air transport essential. Meanwhile, the airport’s facilities were aging, and because baggage handling and security checks relied on manual labor, confusion occurred during peak times. In addition, the runway and aeronautical lighting were due for renewal.
To address these issues, through an ODA loan, we carried out the expansion of the existing runway, taxiways, and aprons with a view to accommodating international flights, upgraded the functions of the aeronautical lighting, and constructed a new passenger terminal building and parking lot. As the lead firm of the joint venture, OC Global provided consulting services such as detailed design, tender assistance, and construction supervision. This project responded to the increasing transport demand and contributed to a significant improvement in convenience and safety.

[Nacala Port Development Project, Republic of Mozambique]

The Nacala Port Development Project is an ODA yen loan project aimed at contributing to regional economic development by utilizing Japan’s advanced technology to develop a container terminal and other facilities. As the lead firm of the joint venture, OC Global provided consulting services such as detailed design, tender assistance, and construction supervision. The container terminal newly developed through this project has greatly contributed to regional economic development as the core port of the Nacala Economic Corridor, which connects not only Mozambique but also the landlocked countries of Zambia and Malawi. It also established a foundation to support the promotion of regional industries along the corridor, such as coal mines, agricultural lands, and offshore natural gas development. During the five-year project period, it employed more than 1,000 local residents and staff, contributing to job creation in the region.
