On May 11, 2026, Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global; Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan) opened a project office in Vasai, Maharashtra, India, for the T-1 Package of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project (MAHSR) also known as India’s high-speed rail project, between Mumbai and Vapi, and held an opening ceremony on the same day.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the Japan Railway Technical Service (JARTS), and the Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency (JRTT), as well as Directors and project members of the Joint Venture (JV)* responsible for construction supervision of the project. In remarks delivered by the parties concerned, participants shared their expectations for the further development of cooperative relations between Japan and India through this project.

In recent years, India has seen a rapid increase in domestic railway passenger and freight transport volumes, driven by remarkable economic growth, population growth, and urbanization. This project is India’s first high-speed rail project and utilizes Japan’s Shinkansen system.

The T-1 Package is an important section connecting Mumbai, Maharashtra, India’s largest metropolitan area, with Gujarat, a thriving commercial and financial center, and is expected to play a significant role in the further advancement of the project. As a member of the JV *, OC Global has been consistently engaged in consultant services for the project, including design, tender assistance, and construction supervision.
