The 2024 Midyear National Convention of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) was held in Manila, Philippines, from June 13th to 15th, 2024 and Dr. Harukazu Ohashi, Principal Consultant of the Road Transport Division at Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global), took to the stage.

This conference was held under the theme of “Building Global Partnerships, Bridging Boundaries and Fostering New Technologies Towards A Resilient and Sustainable Development” and was attended by approximately 5,000 participants. Mr. Emil Sadain, the PICE President and Senior Undersecretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Philippines, gave the opening address. In the structural engineering session, Dr. Ohashi gave a lecture and covered topics, such as the repair of cracks in copper truss components in the “Detailed Condition Investigation and Emergency Rehabilitation Work of the First Cebu-Mactan Bridge” Project.

At the Engineering Expo, which was held simultaneously, OC Global set up a booth in collaboration with Oriental Consultants Philippines, Inc. (OC Philippines), OC Global’s subsidiary in the Philippines. SOCOCA, a web-based geographic information system (GIS) that utilizes Google Smart Maps, which is being developed in collaboration with our group company Research & Solution Co., Ltd., (R&S) was introduced. Moreover, examples of digital transformation (DX) applications in infrastructure development projects, including BIM/CIM, VR, and GIS, were showcased. DPWH officials, local government officials, and private sector company representatives who visited the OC Global booth asked for demonstrations, with the aim of introducing OC Global’s DX solutions at their respective organizations and companies.
