On September 2, 2026, Dr. Reiko Abe, Ph.D., Executive Officer of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) and Representative Director and Chairperson of Oriental Consultants India Private Ltd. (OC India), delivered a keynote speech during an international special lecture at the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) Annual Meeting, titled “Engineers Bringing Japanese Civil Engineering Expertise to International Projects: Challenges and Knowledge Transfer for the Future,” held at Sapporo Education & Culture Hall.

This lecture was held as a special lecture at the 2026 JSCE Annual Meeting, and was planned and moderated by Associate Professor Ryunosuke Kido of Hiroshima University Graduate School. Approximately 100 people attended at the venue, while about 570 viewers watched online.

Dr. Abe introduced the railway projects in India that she has been involved in for many years, and lectured on the impact of infrastructure development, including railways, on India’s society and economy, as well as the roles of engineers engaged in international projects. Additionally, during the panel discussion, views were exchanged on the values and strengths that Japanese engineers can demonstrate in international projects. Finally, she sent a message of encouragement to students and young engineers aiming for the international stage, saying, “I want you to take the first step.”
