On August 14, 2026, Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (“OC Global”) held a groundbreaking ceremony for a whiteleg shrimp aquaculture project in Polewali Village, Sulawesi Island, Republic of Indonesia.

This project is being promoted by PT. Akuakultur Konawe Nusantara (“AKN”)*. The ceremony was attended by Lainea District Head Mangendre, A.Ma., S.Sos, village government officials, representatives of local communities, local residents, AKN President Director Aryo, and other stakeholders.

*AKN is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) jointly established by PT. Indmira, PT Yogya Nusa Ventura, and OC Global to develop and operate this shrimp aquaculture business.

Advancing Whiteleg Shrimp Aquaculture Together with Local Communities
Under this project, aquaculture facilities will be developed in Southeast Sulawesi Province to produce whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), for which there is strong international demand. The project plans to stablish an annual production and supply capacity of approximately 1,300 tons, with a view to expanding this capacity to approximately 4,000 tons per year in the future.

Against the backdrop of global population growth and increasing demand for animal protein, aquaculture is becoming increasingly important as a sustainable means of food production. Whiteleg shrimp is also one of Indonesia’s key aquaculture products, and through this project, O C Global and AKN aim to contribute to the further development and enhanced international competitiveness of the country’s aquaculture industry.

In addition, the project will promote the employment of local personnel through the construction and operation of the aquaculture facilities, aiming to create employment opportunities in the region. At the same time, by transferring aquaculture technologies, knowledge, and operational know-how to local personnel, the project aims to establish a sustainable industrial foundation in the region.

Building a Long-Term Relationship with the Local Community 
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, AKN President Director Aryo expressed his appreciation for the welcome extended by the local government and residents of Polewali Village. He emphasized that this project is not a short-term initiative, but rather a commitment to building a long-term business foundation together with the local community.

In addition, Mangendre, Head of Lainea District, welcomed AKN’s investment and expressed the local government’s commitment to actively supporting the project. He expressed his expectation that private-sector investment would contribute to job creation and the development of the local economy, and noted the importance of companies, government authorities, and local residents building mutual trust and working together to advance the project.

Applying OC Global’s Infrastructure Expertise to the Aquaculture Business
OC Global will apply to this aquaculture project the technical expertise and project management capabilities it has accumulated through the development of social infrastructure—including roads, bridges, railways, airports, ports, water supply systems, and sewerage systems—in countries around the world.

In particular, OC Global will utilize water treatment and construction management technologies in the design, construction, and operation of the aquaculture facilities, with the aim of developing facilities that both reduce environmental impacts and improve productivity. Furthermore, in addition to digital technologies such as data management platforms, sensors, and drones to monitor water quality and shrimp growth, remote monitoring from Japan will also be utilized to enhance construction and operational management, stabilize product quality, and ensure traceability.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Iida of OC Global also delivered remarks, expressing appreciation for the cooperation and warm welcome extended by local stakeholders and reaffirming the commitment to working together with local project partners and residents to advance the project. The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by AKN management, government officials, and local stakeholders, marking the full-scale launch of the project.

OC Global announced its equity participation in AKN in June 2026. The project is being promoted as one of its investment-driven business initiatives aimed at advancing the primary industry sector by leveraging the infrastructure technologies and expertise it has developed as an engineering consulting firm.

 

OC Global contributes to the stable supply of fresh, nutritious, safe, and secure products in preparation for future shortages of nutrition sources. We also contribute to reducing the burden on the oceans through land-based aquaculture.
