Indonesia’s Jabodebek LRT Receives MLIT Minister’s Commendation at the JAPAN Construction International Award

On August 21, 2026, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced the winning projects for the 9th JAPAN Construction International Award. The “Jabodebek Light Rail Transit Construction Project” in Indonesia, in which Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Globa) was involved, received the MLIT Minister’s Commendation. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on September 3 at the Jiji Press Hall, Ginza, Tokyo.

Kuningan Bridge, the railway bridge with the world’s longest span

This project is part of the development of a public transportation network aimed at alleviating the worsening traffic congestion and transportation-related pollution in Jakarta. Indonesian President Joko Widodo enacted a Presidential Decree designating the project as a national strategic project, after which construction began in September 2015, and it was opened on August 28, 2023.

The main line includes ten long-span bridges, among them the Kuningan Bridge that, with a maximum span of 148 meters, is said to be the longest railway bridge span in the world. Since April 2017, OC Global has provided consulting services for the detailed design review, as well as construction and contract supervision of the project.

The project has been highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally, having received the 2022 ACECC Civil Engineering Project Award, the 2023 Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) Award, and the FIDIC Asia-Pacific Awards 2025 MEGA Project Award.

The “National Road No.5 Improvement Project Middle Section” in Cambodia, in which OC Global was also involved, was also honored with the MLIT Minister’s Commendation in the Construction and Development Project Category.
