OCG Participates in Japan–Barbados Business Mission to Strengthen Disaster Resilience in the Caribbean

Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OCG) participated in the Japan–Barbados Public–Private Business Mission on water and disaster risk reduction, held in Barbados from 12 to 13 March 2026. The mission was organized by the Embassy of Japan in Barbados and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan, bringing together representatives from Japanese government institutions and private companies to exchange views with Barbadian stakeholders and explore opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure development and disaster resilience in the Caribbean region.

Participants of the JAPAN-BARBADOS Business Forum

During the visit, OCG introduced its experience in infrastructure planning and disaster risk reduction, and participated in discussions with the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) on water infrastructure challenges and potential areas of collaboration. The delegation also visited the humanitarian logistics hub jointly operated by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) near Grantley Adams International Airport, which serves as a key disaster response facility for the Caribbean. In addition, the delegation observed the South Coast Boardwalk, a coastal infrastructure project supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), gaining insights into coastal development and urban resilience initiatives in Barbados. Through these exchanges, OCG reaffirmed its commitment to contributing its expertise in infrastructure planning and disaster risk reduction to Barbados and the wider CARICOM region.
