Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global; Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) held the “Smart Mobility Planning Workshop for Partnership Development” on January 27, 2026, in Jakarta, the Republic of Indonesia.

This workshop was conducted as part of the “FY2025 Study on the Utilization of Japanese Technologies Related to Transportation Big Data,” commissioned by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, which was jointly commissioned to OC Global and LocationMind Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Naoki Kiritani).* In collaboration with University of Indonesia (Universitas Indonesia), the workshop was organized with the objective of exchanging views with local stakeholders on the potential for addressing urban and transportation challenges through the utilization of big data and AI technologies.
A total of 43 participants attended the workshop, representing Indonesian government agencies, public transport operators, academic institutions, and private-sector companies. Through a demonstration of the tool currently under development and group work sessions, discussions were held on key challenges related to mobility improvement and on approaches to data utilization tailored to local conditions.
In the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area, rapid urbanization has led to increasingly severe traffic congestion, while enhancing the convenience and attractiveness of public transportation has become an urgent priority. Under this assignment, efforts are being made to examine methodologies that leverage advanced technologies from Japan to visualize current urban and transportation conditions, thereby supporting more effective studies toward solving urban and mobility challenges and facilitating discussions among stakeholders.
OC Global will continue to advance initiatives to improve sustainable mobility in Indonesia through ongoing collaboration with local government bodies and academic institutions.
