OC Global Supports Kansai Railway and TOD Site Visits for Jakarta Officials, PT MRT Jakarta, and Indonesian Journalists

Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global; Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) provided support for a visit to Japan by officials from the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia, representatives of PT MRT Jakarta, and Indonesian journalists from November 10 to November 14, 2025. During the visit, site visits focusing on railway systems and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives in Osaka were conducted.

Following the Tokyo visit conducted in fiscal year 2023, OC Global also supported the implementation of the program for this Osaka visit. With the cooperation of relevant Japanese stakeholders, the program included site visits to representative examples of railway development and TOD in Japan, including Namba Square, Namba Parks, Grand Green Osaka, Umekita Garden, Grand Front Osaka, Abeno Harukas, JR Osaka Station, and the Osaka Monorail.

Courtesy visits were also paid to the Osaka Prefectural Government and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Osaka, during which views were exchanged on the history of railway development in the Kansai region and the cooperative relationship between Japan and Indonesia to date. In addition, with the cooperation of the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR), briefings and on-site visits were conducted on public–private partnership–based urban development initiatives under the Umekita Project.

During the visit, the importance of area management was emphasized as a key approach to enhancing the overall value of districts and achieving well-balanced urban development that delivers broad benefits, in order to create more comfortable urban and pedestrian spaces in Indonesia and Jakarta, where rapid population concentration and urbanization are progressing. In area management, which requires collaboration among multiple private-sector entities and the effective utilization of public land, OC Global will draw on its experience in public infrastructure development and work in cooperation with local partners, as well as Japanese government agencies and private-sector stakeholders, to contribute to the realization of TOD and more livable urban spaces in Indonesia.

PT MRT Jakarta is a public enterprise operating the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. It has been designated as the master developer for TOD along the MRT lines under a Jakarta Governor’s Decree.

Since July 2022, OC Global has signed memoranda of understanding on multiple occasions with PT MRT Jakarta concerning a strategic partnership for business creation related to TOD in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta. Most recently, on November 7, 2025, OC Global newly concluded a memorandum of understanding on business cooperation with PT MRT Jakarta, which also includes collaboration on TOD initiatives in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

As a trusted partner in promoting TOD led by PT MRT Jakarta, OC Global remains committed to contributing to the development of Indonesia.
