On November 28, 2025, the Mayor of Makassar City, Republic of Indonesia, together with officials of the city government visited the head office of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) and met with Eiji Yonezawa, CEO and President, and others.

OC Global is currently implementing the Smart Island Pilot Project, an initiative designed to promote electrification and support the development of the fisheries industry on remote islands in South Sulawesi Province through the introduction of cold chain* facilities powered by renewable energy. In September 2025, an ice-making plant equipped with solar power generation and other self-generation facilities was completed and began full-scale operations.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen their collaboration to ensure the smooth implementation of the project. They also exchanged views on a wide range of other topics, including the development of public transport systems in Makassar City and flood control measures in Indonesia.

*The method of maintaining the freshness and safety of perishable food products by keeping the distribution network from production to retail at low temperatures.

OC Global contributes to solving the food-related challenges in the country by supporting the distribution of safe and fresh food through the introduction of cold chain facilities powered by renewable energy (SDG 2). Additionally, the company contributes to the conservation of valuable aquatic resources (SDG 14).
