The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project titled “The Project for Capacity Enhancement on Formulation and Implementation of Local Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (Phase 2)” in Bangladesh, in which Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global, Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO, President: Eiji Yonezawa) participated in, successfully completed our on-site activities in June 2025. This project was implemented in Bangladesh, a country frequently affected by disasters, with the aim of strengthening the formation and implementation system of disaster risk reduction (DRR) plans at the upazila (sub-district) level, with the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) serving as the central implementing agency.

OC Global provided comprehensive support, including the development of hazard risk assessment methodologies, creation of training manuals for formulating the local DRR plans, preparation of guidelines and manuals for developing plans, and establishment of a mechanism for the securing of budgets and project coordination to support and implement the plans. In particular, pilot activities were conducted in two upazilas each in three districts, Cox’s Bazar, Sunamganj, and Kurigram Districts, to strengthen systems for formulating local DRR plans and budgeting for their implementation.
In addition, the project contributed to the achievement of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through technology transfer via the engagement of local consultants and collaboration with JICA and other development partners.
OC Global will continue to contribute to the realization of safe and sustainable communities through international cooperation in the field of DRR.
By supporting the formulation of disaster risk reduction plans and the processes necessary for their development, OC Global aims to enhance disaster awareness and promote the creation of resilient and sustainable local communities in the respective countries.
