Port & Harbor Department’s Dr. Thit, Ms. Shinta, and Ms. Nonaka Participate as Speakers at the 9th PIANC YP-Com Biennial Technical Visit

Three consultants from the Port & Harbor Department, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Division of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global, Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Eiji Yonezawa)—Dr. Thit Oo Kyaw, Ms. Shinta Ayuningtyas, and Ms. Mami Nonaka—participated as speakers at the 9th PIANC YP-Com (Young Professional Commission) Biennial Technical Visit held from May 14 to 16, 2025, at the BPEX (Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center) in Busan, South Korea. They also took part in the concurrently held PIANC AGA 2025: Annual General Assembly in Busan.

At the technical seminar, Dr. Thit delivered a presentation titled “Port Development for Resilient and Sustainable Growth: Case Study of Patimban Port.” In her presentation, she introduced the Port & Harbor Department’s international project experience and showcased Japan’s advanced port development technologies through the Patimban Port Project in Indonesia, in which OC Global has been involved from planning through to construction supervision. Ms. Shinta participated in the PIANC MarCom (Maritime Navigation Commission), engaging in technical exchanges with young professionals from various countries.

Ms. Nonaka served as a panelist in the panel discussion titled “Young Professionals Engagement in PIANC Working Groups,” organized by the YP-Com (Young Professional Commission). She took part in discussions on how young professionals can contribute to and become more actively involved in working groups.
All three consultants also joined a technical tour of South Korea’s largest commercial port.

PIANC (The World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) is an international organization established in 1885 and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. It is a non-political, non-profit organization designated as an advisory body to the United Nations. PIANC conducts a wide range of activities, including research and studies on technical issues related to ports and waterways and provides technical assistance to developing countries. PIANC-YP-Com is a commission dedicated to building networks and enhancing the capabilities of young professionals under the age of 40 in port-related fields. Through various technical seminars and the Biennial Technical Visit (BTV), which is held every two years, the commission provides a platform for international exchange among young port engineering professionals around the world.

 

OC Global contributes to the advancement of port and navigation technologies through participation in international associations, while also supporting the enhancement of technical skills and international exchange among young engineering professionals around the world
