The Guacirope Bridge, located on the Pan-American Highway (PAH), which links the countries of Central America, was originally constructed in 1943 and had become severely deteriorated over time. To address this issue, the bridge was reconstructed through grant aid. This project is expected to promote economic development in the areas along the PAH in southern Honduras, facilitate smoother cargo transportation with Nicaragua and El Salvador, and serve as an important infrastructure project contributing to regional logistics across Central America.
The bridge features a structural design consisting of a steel through arch (langer girder bridge) for the main span and PC box girders for the side spans. Weathering steel was used to enhance durability and improve maintenance efficiency in the future. The construction was carried out by Hazama Ando Corporation, completing the bridge through an all-Japan collaboration. In addition, our local subsidiary, OC LATIN AMERICA, S.A., also participated in the project and worked in cooperation with other group companies to provide construction supervision services.
OC Global is supporting the economic development of the countries through the provision of high-quality, reliable, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure.
