Presentation by Mr. Yuma Tsumura at the International Conference WSTLUR (Bogotá, Colombia)
Mr. Yuma Tsumura from the Transport Planning & ICT Department of the Planning Division at Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) delivered a presentation at the 2024 World Symposium on Transport and Land Use Research (WSTLUR) held in Bogotá, Colombia from June 16th to 20th, 2024.
Session Scene
WSTLUR is an international academic conference held once every three years since 2011 in the fields of transportation and land use. It is a session that brings together researchers involved in various transportation issues worldwide, as well as experts working to solve transportation issues.
At the Equity session, Mr. Tsumura presented the results of a joint study with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the JICA Ogata Research Institute, entitled “Linking Transport Equity and Urbanization Trajectories in Developing Cities – Case Study in Kinshasa City, Democratic Republic of the Congo.” In this presentation, by combining a literature review of the historical background of urban and transport policies in Kinshasa City, with a statistical approach using data from home visit surveys, the challenges of transport equity (providing equitable transport access for all people) in the city were identified. In addition, recommendations were made regarding the direction of urban and transport policies to achieve this.
OC Global hopes to contribute to the realization of a society that is fair to all through the urban planning and transportation planning proposals that we develop in developing countries.
