[The Jabodebek Light Rail Transit Construction Project in Indonesia]
The capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, and the surrounding metropolitan area have been suffering from serious traffic problems, such as chronic traffic congestion, air pollution, and an increase in traffic accidents, due to the increase in the number of vehicles and motorcycles accompanying population growth. Therefore, the President issued a national strategic project to develop comprehensive public transportation systems, and the construction of the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit was implemented as part of this strategy. As the joint venture’s lead company, OC Global was responsible for design review, construction, scheduling, quality, safety, and contract management. The construction section is comprised of a series of bridges, including the world’s longest railway bridge span (148m) on the Kuningan Bridge. The construction of this railway bridge is unprecedented in the world, with features such as an earthquake-absorbing structure and an earthquake-resistant system that automatically stops trains during major earthquakes.

[The Cross-Border Road Network Improvement Project: Construction of the Madhumati (Kalna) Bridge in Bangladesh]
In Bangladesh, the deterioration of roads and bridges has progressed to the point where they are often unable to maintain their function as international arterial roads. In response, the Cross-Border Road Network Improvement Project was launched to develop a key international arterial road network within Bangladesh. As part of this project, the Madhumati Bridge (also known as the Kalna Bridge) was newly constructed over the Madhumati River, a tributary of the Ganges. This 690-meter-long, six-lane bridge has a main span that uses a steel Nielsen-Lohse bridge, a bridge type that has been used extensively in Japan and is the first of its kind in Bangladesh. The opening of this bridge is expected to improve a transportation and logistics network between major cities, promote trade with neighboring countries, and contribute significantly to economic development of South Asia as a whole.
