On June 23, 2026, a Dissemination Seminar was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to present the outcomes of Updating the Revised Strategic Transport Plan (URSTP) for Dhaka, a project supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in which Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) is engaged.

Approximately 120 people attended the seminar, including representatives of the counterpart agency, the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA), as well as representatives of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges; Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL); Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK); the police; universities and research institutions; development partners; private-sector organizations; and media outlets.

Presentation by Tomokazu Wachi of OC Global’s Transport Planning & ICT Department

At the seminar, Tomokazu Wachi of OC Global’s Transport Planning & ICT Department, who serves as Project Leader for the project, delivered a presentation. He explained the current conditions and challenges relating to the population, urban structure, and transportation systems of the Dhaka metropolitan area; the future vision for urban transportation toward the target year of 2045; and the development policies for public transportation and road networks. He also presented measures spanning the short to long term, focusing on the proposed priority projects, including improvements to bus transportation, the introduction of road congestion charging, and the development of traffic signals and a traffic control center.

The presentation was followed by a question-and-answer session with the participants. The session provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on the steady implementation of the measures proposed in the master plan and their practical application going forward.
