The FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference has been the flagship annual event of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers since 1930. The 2026 conference was held in New Delhi from September 13 to 15 under the theme “Engineering a Bright Future, Together: Quality Infrastructure for People and Prosperity,” in collaboration with the Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI), bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, financiers and engineers from over 100 countries and 800 attendees.
Nicolas participated in the 2026 FIDIC Future Leaders Management Course (FLMC), a programme leading to the FIDIC Certified Consulting Professional (FCCP) certification, with 45 participants from approximately 20 countries. He was selected as one of four participants to present on behalf of the cohort.
The session examined how the growth pathway that has traditionally developed professional judgement in consulting engineers, entry-level work, repetition, delegated ownership and exposure to consequence, is being reduced by automation, outsourcing and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, while the senior roles that depend on that pathway remain unchanged. The presentation addressed the role of industry in preparing the next generation to assume leadership with quality, integrity and sustainability; the role of institutions and the need to shift towards quality-based procurement; and a call to action for decision makers to establish a new playbook, so that organizations of any size can respond to this change.
OC Global contributes to the development of the next generation of infrastructure professionals through participation in international industry forums and through capacity building on projects worldwide.
