Dr. Reiko Abe, Executive Officer of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) and Chairperson of Oriental Consultants India Private Ltd. (OC India), delivered a keynote lecture for the webinar “Expanding My Future through Science 2026,” co-hosted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

The webinar, entitled “How Will Your Choice of Academic Path Shape Your Life? Expanding My Future through Science,” aims to help female junior and senior high school students, as well as their parents, guardians, and teachers, learn about the possibilities that choosing a science-focused academic path can open up. Messages from people with academic backgrounds in science-related fields who are active in a wide range of fields are available on a special website of the Gender Equality Bureau, Cabinet Office.

Dr. Abe was appointed as a “STEM Girl Ambassador” in 2018 and has since been delivering outreach lectures to students and speaking at various events. On this occasion, she delivered the keynote lecture as one of the STEM Girl Ambassadors. Through her own career and her involvement in railway projects in India, Dr. Abe introduced the appeal of working as a development consultant and the rewards of working overseas.
