OC Global Receives JSCE, International Lifetime Contribution Award, International Outstanding Collaboration Award and Technical Achievement Award
On May 18, 2026, the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) announced the recipients of the FY2025 JSCE Awards. Dr. Reiko Abe, Executive Officer of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. (OC Global) and Chairperson of Oriental Consultants India Private Ltd. (OC India), received the International Lifetime Contribution Award; Ms. Rie Sawashita of the Architectural Department, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Division, received the International Outstanding Collaboration Award; and Mr. Munehiko Miyata, former Senior Technical Advisor of the Project Management Office for
Railway Developments in the Philippines in Consulting Operations, received the Technical Achievement Award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on June 12, 2026, at the Hotel Metropolitan Edmont.

Dr. Abe has been engaged in metro, high-speed railway, and infrastructure projects in India, Taiwan, Ukraine, Indonesia, and other countries as a tunnel engineer for more than 30 years. In particular, she has long been involved in the Delhi Metro Project in India, where she promoted the introduction of women-only cars and the deployment of security guards, making a significant contribution to women’s participation in society through the realization of safe public transportation. In addition to supporting the advancement of women as a leader of the local subsidiary, she has also been actively engaged in nurturing the next generation through lectures and writing activities as a pioneer among female civil engineers.

[International Outstanding Collaboration Award: Ms. Rie Sawashita, Architectural Department, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Division]
Ms. Sawashita has built a wide range of achievements over more than 20 years in the field of civil engineering and construction, mainly in developing countries, covering surveys, design, construction supervision, and human resource development. In an educational facilities development project in Indonesia, she adapted Japanese seismic technology and quality control methods to local conditions and improved the durability of the facilities and maintenance capacity through technical guidance, earning high praise from the implementing agency. In addition, during periods of post-conflict reconstruction in countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Afghanistan, she formulated restoration policies in close cooperation with local stakeholders and conducted training for local engineers on education and technology transfer, making a significant contribution to human resource development as a foundation for self-reliant reconstruction.

Mr. Miyata has dedicated approximately 60 years to the field of railway construction as an expert in surveys, design, and construction supervision. In particular, in the North-South Commuter Railway Project in the Philippines, he introduced railway seismic design standards and design technologies for high-speed operation developed in Japan, contributing to the improvement of local design standards. He also contributed to the development of social infrastructure by improving the railway alignment through the use of simulations and reducing travel times on commuter sections. Furthermore, he has contributed to the development of technology and its transfer to the next generation through his involvement in the dissemination of design methods and the establishment of standards.
