Kazuki Ishii of OC Global’s Port & Harbor Department Presented at the 3rd PIANC-APAC 2024

Sydney, AUSTRALIA – Mr. Kazuki Ishii, a consultant at the Port & Harbor Department of Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd., (OC Global) presented a paper at the 3rd PIANC (World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) Asia Pacific Conference (PIANC-APAC2024), which was held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in Sydney, Australia, from August 27 to 30, 2024.

Presentation by Mr. Ishii

Mr. Ishii gave a presentation entitled “Advanced LiDAR-UAV Surveying Technology at Patimban Port Development Project”, in which he discussed the use of LiDAR-UAV* as a more efficient approach to inspecting and managing port structures. He reported on test flight results and accuracy verification at the Patimban Port Development Project in Indonesia.
*LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging system): A technology that emits laser light, and based on the information from the reflected light, measures the distance to an object as well as the shape of the object.
*UAV: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

PIANC is an international organization established in 1885 and headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. It is a non-political, non-profit organization designated as an advisory body to the United Nations. PIANC conducts a wide range of activities, including research and studies on technical issues related to ports and waterways and providing technical assistance to developing countries.

PIANC-APAC is an international conference organized by the PIANC Australia and New Zealand section. It is held every other year, mainly focusing on ports and recreational ports in the Asia-Pacific region. The first PIANC-APAC was held in Fremantle, Western Australia, in December 2020; the second conference was held in Melbourne in September 2022, and this is the third conference.

OC Global contributes to enhancing port and navigation technologies in developing countries by conducting research on the latest technologies.
