This project aims to improve “Good connections with commercial facilities around station” and “Cozy walking spaces at station” on the Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT Jakarta), which was commenced operation in 2019 with a Japanese Yen loan, and contributes to increasing the percentage of public transportation users and improving chronic traffic congestion.

The project will be implemented jointly in Jakarta with Gekidan Iino G.K, a company that develops and operates pedestrian coexistence mobility* vehicles that run at 5 km/h. The company’s mobility service won the grand prize in the “Bang Sue Smart City Urban OS Ideathon” hosted by the MLIT in 2022, and offers a different mobility experience from conventional means of transportation, such as information transmission while moving and linkage with nearby commercial facilities.

Since this project will contribute to the promotion of transit-oriented development (TOD), as well as the social implementation of smart cities in Jakarta, we expect to collaborate with various related organizations in the future.

In July and November 2022, OC Global signed a memorandum of understanding with PT MRT Jakarta, which was designated as the master developer of TOD along the MRT  stations by the Jakarta Governor’s Decree, regarding a strategic alliance for the business creation of TOD in the Jakarta Special Region. In addition, in October 2023, OC Global established the “TOD Promotion Office” and has been working on this project as a priority project. This project will be a tangible result of TOD-related business.

OC Global contributes to better urban spaces and transportation functionality by promoting smart cities and public transportation-oriented urban development.
